Hi All,
In the typical form of Microsoft, they downloaded win-10 to my computer last night without my permission. Now they are asking me whether I want to install it now or pick a time. They won't let me cancel the install. Does anyone have a fix for this? I'm not inclined to upgrade to 10.

The same happened to me, had to install W10 before I could remove it. I would perhaps had kept W10 if it not had installed the wrong language pack and refused to download the right one.

Find Gene's link for the GWX ap that will keep Windows from downloading this
thing from happening. Windows is really going after everybody to get this on
their computer. You have to ask yourself why. Free? I think not. They will
be able to harvest info from you that much easier.

Dell doesn't dare try to sell you W10 on the business computers. I just don't
see it as I try to customize a computer. Maybe the consumer class I'm sure.
Window 7 is the choice for business computers. I hear it will be serviced until
2021.

The GWX ap has effectively blocked W10 downloads that occur when you get
the Microsoft weekly maintenance downloads as I have checked to see what
has come in with all the other files W10 files BLOCKED. Yippee! Don't want
that crap running my computer.

....also the GWX will unload any of the W10 files that are presently on your
computer. I had about 5 gig of them.

You have to ask yourself why
Think you will find Microsoft is setting it up for the move to subscription base operating system, which is the underground noise for the next version release

I can see why they would need to move to subscription base, they really don't have enough money and need to make MORE,
yea right

The day Microsoft goes subscription based Red Hat and the ilk will big much
bigger players. Microsoft might think they are irreplaceable but I would
suggest they should re-think that notion.
Sooo happy they were not able to load their new 10 onto my computer
much to their chagrin.

Although I'm not a fan of subscription base it can have some good points (however these are very few in my opinion).
I suspect within 5 years most of the major software will become subscription base, you can thank adobe for being a leader in that field, autodesk has been switching over as well, once ms goes the rest will follow.
new year prediction for 2021 :STIR:
The big problem with staying on older OS is eventually changes will come to the OS where older software will no longer run we have seen that emerging with win10
my 2 cents
