Sorry Rodger, guess i was a bit harsh after reading that back. Didn't mean to take out my frustrations on you. I've removed the posts. I should remove the website name from the pics in future to avoid any comments.

I have a few internet friends from down under. I kinda know what to expect, they can get a little rowdy. After it's all said and done their usually alright.

Don't you just go crank the bloody AC/DC and it makes everything alright? Something like that anyway... :)

Welcome aboard, mate!

Hello, Bob here from Florida. I'm a newbie here but do know a few of you. I enjoy dimensional signs primarily, but do make almost every other kind of sign if I get my price. I'm a design fanatic first and foremost, regardless of what a sign is made out of.

I started out hand carving and sandblasting but saw the value of a router many years ago. I have a ten year old 5'x10' Multicam that has been a real work horse. Will be looking to add a second machine in the near future. Just acquired a new 27k s.f. shop so I finally have room for more toys.

Well hope I can help out from time to time and I'm sure I can learn a lot from others here. Great idea having a specialty forum. Thanks again!

Grady, I love the "Botika" sign ........... nice work.
If you'd like to explain how you got your copper finish over on the "finishing" portion of the site, some of us would be rather appreciative.

The piece is MDF, routed, and then two coats of black tinted Sherwin-Williams KA Lacquer.

Thanks Roger. I wrote that many years ago. Some of the info is dated but the principles still apply. Pricing in the sign industry has been my own personal crusade for the past several decades. I wish most newcomers would put as much effort into running their business as they do in learning about their software. It's fun to be creative and show everyone your pretty works is, but you feel a whole lot better when you look at your bank account and feel proud about how you earned it.

Alas, I digress as usual. I've beaten the life out of the horse so many times, they just look like carousel horses going around and around...

Thanks again for a great forum!

I make outdoor furniture and don't use a router much except mostly just to round over edges, some pattern cutting.

Chad, what kind of signs do you make? Congrats on getting your CNC machine! Welcome, you'll learn a lot from all the talented dimensional sign makers here!

Redsticks- Welcome! I would suggest you do some research of the various CNC's out there to find the best one for you. There is a variety of CNC users here so feel free to ask questions.

The Harris Cove is 1 3/8" MDO, and the name, the decorative panel, and the oval at the bottom routed and stands off the face.

This is the Rio Vista community signs. The large one is 1 1/2" 18 lb HDU routed out on the face, and the back is routed to lay flat on the pickets. There was also a void areas that allowed me to fit in MDO with studs sticking out, and encased with west systems epoxy. That way it could be mounted on the fence with out the hardware going through the face of the sign. The fence was custom made by a local company to meet the specs of what I was doing. All the fences that I found arced down, and I had them make this one to arc up around the oval sign.

The smaller sign is (2) 1" HDU rouded out, and the back was routed to go around a steel sq tubing frame and epoxied together with west systems epoxy.

Well I finally found 5 minutes and thought I would introduce myself. Friends call me Fine Line Darrel...others call me.....well other things.... I have been in the business now for 12 years. I have this problem with never being satisfied and always needing to learn something new, I think some of you can relate? This spring I took the time to go and hang out with "Grandpa Dan" my newest bestest buddy....sshhh,.... he hasn't quite figured that out yet....he thinks he got rid of me when I left.
The trip to Grandpa Dans started my latest desire with dimensional signage. I don't own a router yet, but I do have a laser, so nothing is safe! So we have started building, cutting & burning a little of everything....all in the quest to learn and build dimensional signage. Love the website here and love looking at others amazing work. I have attached a few pics of some pieces that we have just finished.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better....thanks for letting me hang out.

Hi Everyone. Glad to have the chance to be part of this amazing new forum. Big thanks to the good folks who started it up and moderate it. I live in Ontario Canada and most of my current sign work is wholesale cutting for other sign shops. I have the privilege of living close to and being friends with T.R. MacMunn who as some may have seen is a extremely talented sign-maker and artist. We are also the Canadian

Hi just signed up I do a mix of work, bought a shop bot in 2003 primarily for furniture making but I do some signs, I do chainsaw carving also and incorporate that into a lot of my sign work.

I am always looking for new ideas look forward to being here.

The lettering was done on the bot the rest was chainsaw carved

The first sign I ever did for a bike shop I made the lettering to small

Another chainsaw enhanced sign.
