Welcome Dan Sawatzky! Thanks for joining, you will fit right in here. I'm sure everyone here will agree that your work is beyond impressive! :)

I hope to make it to your sculpting workshop someday. I can carve, but sculpting with magic-sculpt has been difficult. :-\

Hey Everyone. Good to see you sign Guys and gals, got this board up and running.
Am not a sign Guy but plan on using your finishing Techniques on future projects.

I have been at every Camp Rob has had and they keep getting better and better. Great Job Rob.
Am not an expert at anything but what I do know I'll be sure to share.

It's great to see most of those at that camp here.
Thanks again Melissa and Jason for following through with this....... now that I'm here you can start the party!!!!! :Jamie:

Don is one of the good ones!
He is being modest about his skills.
He can model 3d objects, but he is a whiz with the vectric software.
If anyone here has aspire, vcarve, etc questions... he is your guy.

And he is also tops in my book as a person.

Hello all. My name is Devin Fahie from Sebago Signworks; Southern Maine. I am very impressed with many of the names I see here in the new forum. Wow! We mostly do fleet graphics, some signage. However we do have a CNC and like to make the best signs we can when we do make them. I have been in the business for about 10 years now full time, and can easily say still a rookie compared to the talent I see here on this site. Also, great layout on the forum. Best wishes to all.

Thanks Melissa,
I will be there, and yes we'll have to talk more, especially about your designing. Something about your signage really grabs the viewers attention.

Rob, no worries, I'll be there with my fork and spoon!!! Thanks again for hosting this and to Deb for great meals.

Hey all, Boyd from Stagecraft here. I got my start many years ago as a traditional signwriter and over time was lucky enough to work for some very creative dimensional sign people like Ross Ireland and John Peachey of Vancouver. I don't do a lot of dimensional sign work these days, mostly set components and props. I've worked within the film industry for the past twenty-six years and moved into cnc in the past six years. I'm currently working for NBC on a series called Psych but will be leaving the relative safety of the film union shortly to go independent. We're just about ready to open the doors! Thanks to the moderators and all others who helped put this forum together.

Jody, great looking website! I see you did a commercial for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...was hoping to be working on the Michael Bay feature film here starting next month but it looks like it's been put on the back burner indefinitely. Too bad, would've been some fun stuff. - Boyd

Jason, Melissa and Joe...what a fantastic resource this will be, I am humbled and nervous to even post on this web forum, I am not really a sign guy, but do indulge a bit... I usually use Joe's former posts as
needed information, I havent much of a brag sheet to call upon, but have been laser engraving and cnc'ing since retiring from "Contract well Drilling in 1997,I guess the only brag I have is that I was
Vetric's first customer, back in 04 or 05..and oh yah, I recently found out I really enjoy building my own cnc's, probably to much...I was recently told..when it was in pieces and my better half needed some
Plaques to engrave.
WE use a public site to display our stuff it seems to work well. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Burning- ... 4665958314
and this is a sm. sign I did back when software wasn't.

Hi All!
First off THANK YOU Jason & Melissa for making this site!! GOD knows how I needs advice being new to this all still. I already got a few great tips to save me time. Unlike many of you I just entered into this world of 3D sign making "officially" this past April, but started making signs in fall of 2010. Yeah I am a newbie LOL. I did graphic design for 10 years, and I remember the 3D modeling class in college was my by far most favorite class ever! Wish I knew then what I know now! But thank you ahead of time to all who share the life experience and knowledge with us all!!

I attached a few 3D signs I have made within the year... Because I don't have all the right finishing equipment (Except for a ShopBot CNC) everything is painted by hand, and I was pregnant for all these on top of it! LOL. Hope you enjoy!

Lindsay & Ryan

Hi All,

My name is Pierre-Luc Arseneau,
I am a artist/designer/model maker from the Canadian east coast located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I have worked for a pewter company here called Aitkens Pewter (www.AitkensPewter.com) focusing on making pewter products by hand and also with ArtCam and a couple of Model Master CNC machines to make the patterns for the pewter molds. I have had experience creating the designs and reliefs for the company along with the machining of parts for over a decade now.

I am leaving this full time job to pursue my own business as a freelance relief model artist. I hope to leave my comfort zone of creating miniature relief work specific to pewter production and dive into the global market of various CNC production. I no longer have access to a CNC machine,( at least not for a while until i get myself on my feet) so working along with any of you skilled machinist will be a great learning experience for me!

My new business partner and geological neighbor, Norbert Dupuis of Vectorclip3D, has introduced me to this site a few days ago.

If you'd like to explain how you got your copper finish over on the "finishing" portion of the site, some of us would be rather appreciative.
