What's everyone using to adhere PVC to PVC?

I've been using silicone but just had several failures. 1/8" PVC letters to PVC panels.

Thanks!

Maybe try this stuff, pick it up at the hardware store or big box store in the plumbing section.

Geoff, I'm with Jason, PVC adhesive used to glue PVC pipe together works great, Just be sure you get the clear, it also comes in a purple color which could show on finished work.
Someday every things gonna be different... When I paint my masterpiece

Thanks guys! Probably should have been more clear but the PVC panels were painted which I think was my problem.

Did a quick test over the weekend with PVC cement, CA glue and VHB tape on a painted PVC panel. The VHB tape won hands down. The others peeled off with the paint very easily. The VHB was very hard to pull apart and didn't peel up the paint.

My only concern is how the VHB will last over time outside. I've had the tape awhile and not sure what it's specs are?

Silicone works fine as long as the latex is cured. Latex paint has ammonia in it and it off gases. Ammonia inhibits the cure of any silicone based adhesive or mold material.

Thanks James!

How long does Latex take to cure? I usually give it at least 24 hours, I know "dry" is not the same as "cured". I haven't seen anything saying what a cure time would be.

Im not 100% sure, but we have either been using Urethane glues or waiting at least 48 hours before glue application. Sometimes as a fail safe we use both glues in case one has issues.

Stopped using silicone a long time ago due to failures. Especially if you don't rough up surfaces. Past 15 years now we've been using the Loctite PL Construction adhesive. Spend a little more on the 8X version and it dries in 1.5 hour. And hope you don't ever need to take anything apart. You will destroy it trying.

And to be doubly sure, rough sand both surfaces for enhanced superpower bonding.

If you really want to get crazy, Smooth-On Metalset Epoxy. It will glue almost anything. I've never had a failure with it, and you can buy it in part a part b quart containers.
