I ordered some Sculpt Nouveau and got it on Thursday so have been working on some practice pieces before I start on my entry. I got brass, copper and pewter to start with along with black, brown, green and rust patinas. Just wanted to be sure that this stuff would do what I expected and now I am even more excited!!

I took some old pieces that I had cut for a Church Bible School program a few years back that seemed like good candidates to try this metal coating on. The portholes got the brass coating and the brown patina. I didn't order the iron coating so I tried to simulate that with a textured pewter coating and black patina. I followed up with the rust patina which works a whole lot better than I expected so I may have overdone it a bit. Once it dried it looked just like oxidation so you can use it more sparingly...

Still working on designs for the project but I tell you there will be a dirigible involved for sure!

Thanks Kris! My first time with the stuff so I am pretty happy. I want to try the Modern Masters next after seeing the rust effect you got on your Florida piece...

Looks great!!! Don't forget Novacolor as well. They have some awesome metallics. Modern Masters for sure though on the reactive paints!

Very nice Mike, the rust piece makes me want to use it on something.
And to think... all my life I've been trying to stop rust from happening. "Embrace the rust" I say :woohoo:
Someday every things gonna be different... When I paint my masterpiece

James - my next paint order from Novacolor will include some of their metallics!
John - The rusted piece is very convincing in person. One of my buddies was over on Friday morning and reached out to pick up the piece with both hands as he expected it to be much heavier. I'm going to have to put it outside to see how it weathers. Sure would be fun to Steampunk the outside of my schoolbus.
I'm using this challenge as an opportunity to try products that I've read about on this forum like Abracadabra (or Magic Sculpt). There will no doubt be a lot of tiny detail on this project so that is on order!
